Is it worth using a strange old lockpick? ›

When running low on charges, the High Level Alchemy spell can be used to recuperate some of the costs back, since its alch value stays high even when used. The strange old lockpick provides a better success rate for opening coffins within the Hallowed Sepulchre compared to a normal lockpick.

They can be obtained by picking bandits or rogues' pockets using the Thieving skill. They can also be bought from Martin Thwait in the Rogues' Den; however, level 50 Thieving and 50 Agility are required to buy them from him.

The lockpick may also break when used (only in some cases), so it is advised to bring a number of lockpicks when picking locks that can break the lockpick. Alternatively the player can bring a hair clip, which will not break but cannot be used on chests.
