-OBITUARIES- Rena Carter CHOWCHILLA Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Worden Funeral Chapel here for Mrs. Rena Irene Carter, 71, who died Monday in a Fresno hospital after a long illness. Burial will be in Chowchilla District Cemetery. She was a native of Arkansas who had lived locally since 1937.

She owned and operated a local restaurant for several years. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Cathedral of Faith Church. Survivors include 1 her husband, Dewey, Chowchiilla; one. son, Jay B.

He was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Society, the D.E.S Association, and was at the time of his death the oldest member of the Los Banos Dairyman's Association. Youth Arrested In Threat Case LOS BANOS A 16-year-old boy who said he was just playing a joke was arrested Monday calling a bomb threat to Banos Union High School.

The police department said the boy has been released to his parents' custody. He allegedly called the school and said a bomb would go off between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Police and fire officials searched the school grounds but failed to find a bomb. The Studio Band, the unit's official touring jazz ensemble formed in 1969 in recognition of the cultural gap which developed in the last generation, officials explained. The band performs patriotic music, early-era, Big Band and popular music and most modern jazz. Chosen through competitive auditions, Studio Band alumni have performed, with such name Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich and Woody Herman. Stove Causes $25,000 Fire In Dos Palos DOS PALOS Fire caused $25,000 damage to Dr. Robert Miller's home on Bryant Road about miles southeast of here Monday. According to the Merced County Fire Department, the fire apparently started in the kitchen and spread to the roof and attic. Officials said the oven and burner had been left on, apparently starting the blaze. The fire department's estimated damage was set at $20,000 to the structure and $5,000 to contents.

A babysitter and three children were in the house. They were not injured. Three county units and two from the Mid Valley Fire Department in Fresno battled the blaze. Timothy Pate of Carmellia Road after an investigation by the local police department, sheriff's office and Specialized Manpower Assigned to Crime Control. Dutro said Pate admitted taking the guns September 6 and also to taking other guns in three other local burglaries dating back to 1975.

The class is designed both for those who have never done any climbing and for those who want to brush up their skills. Objective of the course is to teach climbing and enjoyment of the mountains, with emphasis on safety and fun. Covered will be climbing techniques, knots, belays, rappels, route finding, climbing ethics and some of the history of climbing. The four class will include two field trips. Locations of these will be announced in class.

Instructor David Orza is experienced in the techniques of rock climbing and alpine mountaineering. "Stained Glass Workshop," open Thursdays. Class another non non-credit class, will meetings will be from 7 to 10 p.m. in Room 3 of the Downtown Center. The art of cutting, creating and assembling a stained glass window will be demonstrated and taught in this class, marking another example of the return of interest to an ancient craft.

Windows made in the class may be used either as regular windows or hung as decorative articles against the light. With the exception of the Yoga class, no fees are charg. ed and registration will be held at first class meetings.
