San Diego, California – With the growth of golf slowing after the COVID boom, a looming recession, and an uncertain political environment due to the upcoming election, Sunday Golf, the San Diego based golf bag company and the hottest golf bag brand to emerge in recent years, has officially announced its decision to file for the BANKRUPTCY trademark as part of its new marketing campaign to bring awareness to how overpriced some golf bags are today. Golf is expensive, golf bags don't have to be."Golf bags should not cost the same as the GDP of a small country. If new and old golfers alike cannot afford a golf bag to play with, how are we, as an industry, expected to grow the game?" said Ronan Galvin, CEO of Sunday Golf. "Prices were driven up during COVID due to shipping costs and other factors but that was years ago. A lot of brands have decided not to pass those savings back to the consumer. After careful consideration and exploration of all possible avenues, we came to the conclusion that filing for the BANKRUPTCY trademark is the most responsible action we can take for the golf community to help them avoid BANKRUPTCY by not overpaying for golf bags. We’re confident this legal filing will educate golfers everywhere that Sunday Golf is the #1 place to buy great golf bags at a great price.""We are deeply grateful for our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and supportive partners who have been with us throughout our journey. We understand the impact that this announcement will have and are committed to ensuring transparency and support for all golf bag consumers as we bring more awareness to overpriced golf bags.""Our goal is to put the power back in the consumers hands. And to let them know that they do not need to mortgage their house for a golf bag. They just need to shop at Sunday Golf." Added Galvin.Further details regarding the bankruptcy trademark filing and the future growth plans of Sunday Golf will be shared as they become available. We appreciate the support of the golfing community as we carry out this campaign.

Next up on CURATED , “An Expert Guide to the Best Golf Courses in New York” 🗽⛳️Had a lot of fun putting this one together!****UPDATE & DISCLAIMER: For my fellow Native New Yorkers, and all fans of the games best courses…please understand the following about this list (and future lists I do): 1) These are not ranking lists. 2) These are not complete lists of ALL the courses I feel are the best in state or country or a city, etc.…there are far too many great courses, and I’m limited in how much I can write. 3) I wanted to represent courses more than private ones or those that are consistently showcased. Please read intro below for more of my reasoning of the courses I chose to include 👇🏻 ——————————————————- Being born and raised in Central New York and falling in love with the game there allowed me to play some fantastic golf courses. Remarkable golf is abundant in Central and Western New York, as well as the greater New York City area.Today, I share with you a few of the many incredible golf courses that pepper the landscape of New York State. As was the case in my recent review of Orlando’s golf courses, including all of the outstanding golf facilities in New York would be an impossible undertaking, especially with nearly 1,000 courses statewide.Considering that, I have boiled my list down to just 12 courses. They range from top exclusive private clubs that have hosted some of golf's most significant events to storied municipal golf courses and other gems worthy of inclusion.I will undoubtedly miss many worthy courses on this list, and by no means should that be a reflection on any I may leave out. There are simply far too many to list. With so much great golf in New York, you can't go wrong in most cases with any course you might tee it up on!

Have you ever heard of black market golf tee times? Well, it’s real and happening in LA. Brokers buy them up and sell them on a secondary market for more money, which explains why it’s so hard to get a tee time at L.A.’s municipal golf courses. As if it isn’t frustrating enough with ticket sales brokers that provide no valid by buying tickets in advance and reselling them for a profit. Goes to show again that if there is a loophole in the system somebody will find a way to exploit it.Within the Korean golf community, it’s common knowledge that brokers book morning and early afternoon tee times and resell them for a profit. One broker said he uses up to five devices and relies on unspecified “friends” to secure tee times, bringing in a couple thousand dollars a month. He said he is just helping the senior golfers. Now 5 golfers have filed a class-action suit against the city this week calling out the failure to stop black market in tee times. According to the lawsuit, members of an Asian American golfing group had shared evidence about the black market with city officials back in October. The lawsuit accuses the city of L.A., which is the sole defendant, of a breach of implied contract and breach of public trust. In 2021, 2022 and most recently in 2023, other golfers have repeatedly asked L.A. city golf to address this issue, but nothing has changed, the situation has only gotten worse.#golf #la

For those of us who golf and want more challenging courses to play in FL...Florida is often considered an underwhelming place to play golf. Bland, flat marsh doesn’t have the same cachet as wind-swept cliffs overlooking the Pacific. The Sunshine State stereotype is a course surrounded by retirement homesthat looks as if it just rolled off the production line. The state has more than 1,200 courses, the most in the US, but just three onGolf Digest’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses list. But nowsome developers are betting that Florida’s boggy Martin County, near West Palm Beach, might be the golf mecca nobody ever expected - 16 new course projects are under construction or in planning.Membership queues atEmerald Dunes Club in West Palm Beach and the Bear’s Club in nearby Jupiter are estimated to be as long as seven years, despite fees of $500,000 or more. A little farther north, the Medalist and Floridian clubs have upped their initiation fees and expanded their member ranks to 300, but they still have as many as 50 people on standby. (Read more:A Surge in Young Golfers Is Turning the Sport Into a Family Affair)These wealthy waitlists have cropped up since the state became the biggest beneficiary of thefinance industry’s exodus from New York. For all you golf warriors, this is a must read. Thank you Andy Medici Boston Business Journal for a great article. Country clubs and golf courses are at a pivot point, and Blake Walker is banking that subscription models are the future of the industry. The veteran hospitality executive and CEO of the privately held Arcis Golf is bucking the idea that country clubs and daily-fee golf courses are inherently different. That’s why he formed Arcis in 2014. Over the past decade, the company — with the backing of Fortress Investment Group and Atairos — purchased nearly 70 clubs and has grown to about 6,000 employees. The company now holds a roughly equal mix of daily-fee courses and private country clubs that includes several high-profile courses, including Champions Retreat Golf Club near Augusta, Georgia, a 27-hole private course designed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. But it also includes public courses that many golfers frequent, including Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas and Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, Colorado. Traditionally, the two concepts haven’t mixed, but Walker is betting on a future in which people can move from one to the other as their lives change — and enjoy broader access than just their own local club or course. “My belief at Arcis’ inception (was) that there are far more commonalities than differences between daily-fee courses and private courses,” Walker said. His goal is to create an ecosystem that includes everything from entry-level to upscale clubs in every major metro in the U.S. The company has acquired and invested $100 million in dense pockets of courses around major metros. In 2021, he told theDallas Business Journal, his plans to double the company over the next five years, through acquisitions and organic growth Walker's company is seeking to disrupt traditional models at an inflection point for golf courses and country clubs alike. Manygolf courses have seen a surge of business since the pandemic, while a variety of factors have led several country clubs to close their doors and contributed to rising dues at others. #realestate #golfcourse #buyers #countryclubs

A year ago, I had no relationship with the golf industry nor the state of Texas. In April, I jumped on the opportunity to be with both on a very unique project. This week, Bryan Ford and the team at Golf Space Collective launched a digital museum highlighting 150 members and 14 historic golf courses of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. I was brought onto the team to help perfect the backside of the website and manage the assets, better known as artifacts. The museum showcases nearly 1600 artifacts, including historical images, articles, and videos, offering a rich and interactive exploration of Texas golf history. Scott Wilson and John Robinette were the boots on the ground capturing all of the video and scanning the artifacts for the website. Without them, there is nothing to showcase. Forever grateful for their dedication to telling the stories the right way.My first order of business was organizing the Google Drive, which housed all of the content shot from Scott and JR. I began by building master folders by induction year, with sub folders for each member. Inside of each member folder included photos, video and scanned documents to sift through. Once the organization tree was constructed, I put together a shared document linking all of the members to the appropriate folder for an easy-to-search data base. Additionally, I put together a master Excel sheet that had every member's progress within the uploading process, from content being shot to being finalized on the website. With an order of operations established, it finally came time to sit down and go through all of the content and prioritize the important documents and photos that were crucial to the members story. I learned so much about legends such as Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, Ryan Palmer, Charles Coody, Frances Trimble and so many more. Once the prioritized pieces of content were decided, I was tasked with making sure there were captions written for each for SEO. That's when I brought Ashley Beach into the conversation, who handled all of the copy writing for the artifacts and the mini bios for each member. With the captions written, I would upload them into the website and work with Greg Short on tweaking the process. The goal was to make it as simple as possible for the basic user to upload and import new media moving forward. So I tweaked minor details that would make the overall user experience enjoyable for the next person to upload the next story. I was only a part of the group for the final home stretch of the build, which took a total of 18 months from concept to launch. I'm grateful to be a small part of a massive project and thankful for the team of people I worked alongside and continue to do so with GSC and Preston McClellan!
